Leadership

The Service Unit Leadership Team consists of parents, guardians, and other volunteers who organize events including launching new troops, bridging, fall product and cookie sales, and event coordination.  We are always looking for volunteers who want to step up and help bring our girls the best experience possible.

Service Unit Manager

The Service Unit Manager develops and maintains Girl Scouting throughout the area and organizes and supports local troops, Juliettes (individual girl members), registered adult volunteers, families, and community partners.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer on the Service Unit Team, please contact us via this form.

Communications

Communications Representatives enhance public awareness and support of Girl Scouting through regular two-way communication with local media and community contacts, and serve as a vital link between the community and the council communications department.

Organizer/Recruiter

Organizers/Recruiters recruit, place, and retain girls and adult volunteers in Girl Scouts while ensuring that all girls in the assigned service area have the opportunity to fully participate in Girl Scouting programs and activities

Resource Coordinator

The Resource Coordinator helps maintain quality programming and promotes troop/leader retention by providing assistance through resource coordination via people, resources, and technical support.

The Registrar assists with registration and supports and encourages accurate registrations for Cookies and Early Bird Registration.

The Family Giving Coordinator works to educate and solicit Girl Scout families for family giving contributions from local families.

Event Coordinator

The Event Coordinator supervises the planning and execution of service unit events to ensure safety, risk management, adherence to policies, and connection to Girl Scout Leadership Experience outcomes.

Secretary

The Secretary makes sure everyone knows of upcoming meetings and what the agenda is, acts as primary facilitator for communications with Council, records all decisions, events, to-dos, action points, etc. in all SU leadership meetings and communicates back to all SU leaders for accountability, and facilitates meeting locations with local schools, churches, etc for the service unit.

School Liaisons

School Liaisons provide parents and girls at a designated school with the information and opportunities necessary to participate in Girl Scouting.  They are particularly needed to assist the Recruiter during the busy back-to-school recruitment season by being the main contact point and coordinator of BTS open house recruitment opportunities.  Schools needed: one each for Diamond Path, Highland, Shannon Park, Rosemount, Red Pine, and Parkview Elementary Schools, and one or two for the middle and high schools.

Delegates

Delegates and alternate delegates serve as the primary communication link between area Girl Scout members, community networks and River Valleys’ Board of Directors, and they elect our local representatives and national council delegates at the annual meeting in January.  Girl members 14 years and older can also be delegates.

Floating Volunteers

A floating volunteer helps out wherever the team needs them most at any given point.  Examples include recruitment, planning events, product program training, etc.
